Team Brain vs Claude Duet

Claude Duet is Anthropic's new proactive agent for one person's inbox and day. Team Brain is where a team's shared work and agents live. Here's how they differ, what each costs, and why many teams will want both.

You got off the waitlist on Wednesday. By Thursday morning Claude Duet had sent you a brief: three emails waiting on you, an invoice that's late, a meeting it wants to move. It's good. People who tried it agree. One early user said it started finding things to take off their plate as soon as they connected their accounts.

Then you look at your team. Two people are asking how to get it. Your ops lead wants it to update the client list everyone uses. And you realize Duet is great at your day, but nobody else can see what it did.

That's the gap this comparison is about.

Which one fits your work: Claude Duet for an agent that watches your own inbox and day, Team Brain for a team sharing tables, docs and agents, or both.

The short answer

Use Claude Duet if you want an agent for your own work: your inbox, your calendar, your invoices, a brief every morning.

Use Team Brain if your team needs one place where shared work lives and agents keep it up to date: clients, tasks, meeting notes, reports everyone reads.

Use both if you're a small business owner who runs your own day and a team. They don't compete for the same job.

What each one really is

Claude Duet is a personal, proactive agent. Anthropic announced it on October 21 as a new app where Claude works as a proactive agent. It comes to you with what needs attention, keeps working when you step away, and checks with you before it acts. Anthropic built it for professionals and small business owners with more on their plates than they can track.

It uses your Claude account's memory, skills and connected apps, including Gmail, Slack, QuickBooks, HubSpot and Docusign. Before it sends a message, makes a payment, signs a document or deletes anything, it shows you what it's about to do and waits. Some things are off limits even with your approval, like trading securities or moving money between accounts.

Team Brain is a shared workspace with agents in it. Your team's tables, docs and pages live in one place, and agents read and update them on a schedule, when a row changes or when an email lands. Every person sees the same data, and every agent run leaves a record.

The simplest way to say it: Duet works for you. Team Brain is where your team's work lives.

Whose work is it: Claude Duet handles your inbox, calendar and morning brief, isn't for teams yet, and Team Brain holds shared tables, agents anyone can check, with no seats.

Claude Duet details are from Anthropic's Get started with Claude Duet help page, and prices from Claude's pricing page, checked October 24, 2026. Team Brain's prices are on our pricing page.

One cost is easy to miss. The help page says Duet's background work, like the morning brief and check-ins, counts toward the same limits as your chats, so you may hit them faster. If you already run out of Claude by Wednesday, plan for that.

If everyone on your team wanted Duet, it would mean a Claude plan per person:

Claude Pro for everyone
$200
Claude Max for everyone
$1,000
Team Brain
$0plus the AI you use

That's $2,400 a year in seats you wouldn't pay.

To be fair, a Claude plan buys far more than Duet: chat, Claude Code, the desktop app. If your team already pays for it, Duet comes on top for free during the preview.

Where Team Brain is different

The work is shared. Duet can read your Claude work but, per the help page, can't see all your projects or local files. In Team Brain, a meeting note sits in a table the whole team can open, linked to the client it's about.

The Meeting notes table in Team Brain: each meeting with its client, date and summary.

Open any meeting and the facts sit above the notes, with next steps anyone can tick off:

A meeting note in Team Brain: client, date and summary at the top, then what we heard and the next steps.

Agents belong to the team. A Team Brain agent that updates the client list runs the same way no matter who's on vacation. Anyone can open it and see when it runs, what each run changed, and what it costs.

You pick the model and who pays. Each agent picks its own model and can run on workspace credits, your own API key, or a ChatGPT, Grok, Gemini or GLM plan. Team Brain doesn't connect to a Claude plan, so it won't eat into the limits Duet uses.

When to stick with Claude Duet

  • It's mostly your own inbox and calendar. Duet is built for exactly that, and it watches them for you.
  • You want it to come to you. A morning brief and check-ins through the day, on your phone.
  • You pay for things online. Duet can buy through Link by Stripe and Shop Pay, with your approval each time.
  • You already have Pro or Max. It's included during the preview.

What breaks when you add Team Brain

Nothing has to break. Keep Duet for your day.

What moves: anything more than one person needs. The client list, the task board, the notes from client calls, the weekly report.

What you rebuild: the jobs you asked Duet to repeat for the team become Team Brain agents. Describe the job once, give it a schedule, and set a cost cap.

What stays with Duet: your personal inbox, your calendar, your errands.

Common questions

Is Team Brain a Claude Duet alternative? For team work, yes. For a personal agent that watches your own inbox and messages you first, Duet does what Team Brain doesn't.

Can my team use Claude Duet? Not as a team yet. The help page says it isn't on Team or Enterprise plans, and Anthropic plans to bring it later. Each person can join the waitlist on their own Pro or Max plan.

Can Team Brain agents use Claude? Yes. Pick a Claude model per agent and pay per use, or connect your own Anthropic API key.

Is Team Brain free? The workspace is free for any number of people and agents. You pay only for the AI you use.
