You pick who pays for the model

The workspace-wide routing switch is gone. Each person picks their own source, and the chat says which account pays.

There used to be one admin setting that decided whose money the whole workspace spent on AI. That stopped making sense the moment a key or a subscription became one person's property rather than the company's.

So we took it out. You pick your own source, the pick is remembered, and it is checked against what you are actually allowed to spend on every single request.

The workspace routing switch is gone

One admin deciding whose money everyone spends does not fit a world where the key belongs to the person who connected it. Almost nobody was using the switch, and the people who were could not tell what it was doing.

  • Routing mode: is removed from Settings, along with the workspace-wide setting behind it.
  • Your source: is remembered per person now. It is memory and not permission, so an out-of-date pick resolves to less than you may spend, never more.
  • Auto: stops at the platform. It uses your workspace subscription or its credits, and never reaches for somebody's private key.
  • Anyone on their own keys: was moved onto them, so nothing quietly fell back to credits.

The chat says who is paying

Which account is this coming out of was a question you could only answer by opening Settings and guessing.

  • The chat: names the paying account in plain words.
  • Two plans from the same provider: show up as two separate choices, and the choice is re-checked against your access.
  • An OpenRouter key: unlocks the whole roster of models. A provider key unlocks that provider.
  • A subscription: reports its own model list and identity, so you are offered the models that account really has.

Agents run on the right plan

An agent is a service account standing in for the person who built it. It should be able to spend exactly what they can spend, and nothing more.

  • An agent: runs on its author's plan, the same way the chat does.
  • Use my subscription: reaches a subscription model instead of falling through to the default.
  • Spend: is readable by agents and by MCP, so a run can see what it has cost so far.
